Heading Home – BOAC VC10
British Overseas Airways Corporation Vickers VC10 over the Alps in the early 1970s.
Instantly recognisable with its high tail and rear-engined quad configuration, the VC10 is widely regarded as one of the most attractive airliners ever built.
Although produced in relatively small numbers the VC10 gave long service from its introduction in the mid-1960s to its retirement in 1981.
The VC10 still holds the record for the fastest Atlantic crossing by a sub-sonic airliner of 5 hours and 1 minute.
